The speakers were health professionals as well as METAdrasi’s experts, while the participation of our interpretation team members exceeded expectations.
Based on the formal definition of the World Health Organization “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”, the seminar aimed at covering various and demanding chapters: medical & mental health terminology, information on the National Health System, Contagious Diseases, Mental Health/Depression and the particularities in cases of social groups such as Victims of Torture or LGBTQI.
Special emphasis was given to the handling of difficulties during treatment sessions and the avoidance of the possible mental trauma to the patient.
The seminar was realised within the framework of METAdrasi’s activity “Provision of Interpretation to Healthcare Services”, which is being supported by the European Commission’s Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid Operations department (ECHO).
