





In the 2nd Race Against Discrimination
With great pleasure, METAdrasi and the Hellenic Olympic Committee participated as co-organizers, and through our cooperation in the “Together in Sport – Phase II” project, in the successful 2nd Race Against Discrimination, organized by the Hope Runners, on Sunday, November 3rd at the Olympic Stadium. Driven by the message of zero tolerance to any form of discrimination, more than 880 runners, including 80 refugee children, participated in the races and parallel activities. Read more.

Music workshop with Afro-Brazilian percussion
A workshop full of Afro-Brazilian music and percussion was organized by METAdrasi at the “Faros Elpidas” Accommodation Centre for unaccompanied children for the girls hosted there. Through the engagement with Afro-Brazilian percussion, the participants had the opportunity to relieve themselves from the stress of everyday life and to develop social skills. They learned to synchronize and create a unified musical effect with the rhythm and dynamism of African percussion. There were many improvisation moments with the girls expressing their creativity!

Hip-hop workshop
Our students of METAdrasi’s Educational Centre were in the rhythms of hip-hop, trying their strengths in basic moves and steps together with the students of the regular hip-hop classes of the project. Trust, respect, independence, cooperation, and consistency were some of the values built through this workshop.


A visit packed with… optical illusions
Students of the Intercultural High School of Athens responded positively to our invitation for a different type of visit, in a not so common museum: it was a visit full of… optical illusions, in the interactive exhibits of the Museum of Illusions. Both the children and the teachers had a wonderful time between sensations and illusions!


“Together in Sport – Phase II” at the theatre!
Students of the 2nd Primary School of Egaleo had the pleasure to attend the children’s theatre performance “The Green Willow – Aoyagi”: a story about love and respect, nature and people. The prolonged applause and smiles of the children at the end of the performance was the best reward for the cast and for us!






Discovering the Olympic sports
Within the framework of the project “Together in Sport – Phase II”, METAdrasi and the Hellenic Olympic Committee offered gave the chance to children to discover Olympic sports! Students from the 152nd Primary School of Athens and the 44th Primary School of Athens, gathered at the premises of the Olympic Stadium to learn about the values of fair play and cooperation through sports such as athletics, beach volley, acrobatics, laser run and karate, reminding us that sport unites and fills all children with joy. And as always, at the end of the event, all children received the “Together in Sport – Phase II” medal and souvenirs!


Information on racist violence
On Thursday, the 12th of December, “Together in Sport – Phase II” held an important session racist violence! METAdrasi and the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens co-organized the educational session “Information about racist violence”. In cooperation with the Directorate for Combating Racist Violence of the Hellenic Police, children and young people were informed about important issues related to racist violence. The children actively participated, even asking their questions on the issue, with the help of METAdrasi’s interpreters who were present throughout.


Capacity building sessions on child protection
METAdrasi organized two capacity building sessions on child protection within the framework of “Together in Sport – Phase II”. The first one was addressed to Refugee Education Coordinators and Teachers and the second one to employees of the Controlled Temporary Accommodation Facility for Asylum Seekers in Elefsina. The sessions were also accompanied by the presence of trainers from the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons and Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. Various topics were presented such as the refugee issue in Greece, unaccompanied children, their characteristics, good practices, forms of child abuse, etc.





The children of Mytilene discover the Olympic sports
More than 200 children tested their strengths in the Olympic sports of taekwondo, wrestling, fencing, rowing and laser run. The three-day event was organized in Mytilene, by METAdrasi and the Hellenic Olympic Committee, in the framework of “Together in Sport – Phase II”. With enthusiasm, the children, as well as their teachers, were introduced for the first time to the world of the sports, promoting values such as respect, team spirit and intercultural acceptance.



Christmas with beautiful creations
With great joy, enthusiasm and imagination, the students of the 2nd High School of Mytilene, participated in the action “Christmas with beautiful creations” organized by METAdrasi. From very early on, the small art room was filled with the magical gold dust of Christmas. With the help of the experienced teachers and the students of the nursery department, students from different classes of the school had the opportunity to take part and create small or even bigger Christmas works of art to the sounds of Christmas music. Calendars for the New Year, charms made entirely with clay by the students’ hands, candles decorated with the decoupage technique, coloured ribbons and cinnamon are just some of the items prepared, enhancing the interaction of the students through the multicultural craft workshop.





Weekly sports and artistic activities continue in Attica
How and how children are looking forward to the weekly sports and arts activities: Football, volleyball, taekwondo and cricket for the athletes and hip-hop and percussion for the artists in a rich programme that keeps the interest going!


Weekly volleyball and taekwondo trainings in Lesvos
Mytilene has been in the rhythm of volley and taekwondo through the weekly training sessions for children. Apart from the progress they are making in their sports, we are happy to see that beautiful friendships are being created through these trainings.
“Together in Sport – Phase II” is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027).
