A creation of the unaccompanied children in our shelter in Chios

The unaccompanied children living in METAdrasi’s accommodation facility in Chios participated in the original contest of the municipality of Chios for the best christmas goblin, by creating Snot. Snot may not have won the contest, but the children’s message won our hearts:

“I am a traveler of the world, it’s evident in my appearance, my T-shirt is Congo, my feet are Gabon. My hat is Morocco and Syria too. My hands are painted in beautiful Greek blue. My eyes are five, as many as my truths. My name is Snot, I’m the Christmas monster, I live in Greece but do not worry, I come in peace. I’m a great symbol of unity. I wake up on Christmas in order to share. I just want to integrate. Be fair, please. My only desire is to hold hands with Greece. I want to be a part of you, to belong to society. Merry Christmas with love from METAdrasi’s Accommodation Facility in Chios.”

In a particularly difficult time, while METAdrasi is struggling to keep operating the accommodation facilities for unaccompanied minors in Chios, Samos, Lesvos and Athens, we thank warmly the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the valuable support to the Chios shelter.
